From the website at www.sidecinema.com/index.htm

The Radical side presents a mix of stories of oppression and inspiration from around the world. We will be hold screenings that are introduced by speakers and followed by opportunities for discussion.

We have access to a portable projector and are keen to take informative and inspiring films and videos out to community settings. We have a large library of titles on issues such as; Refugees, unemployment, drugs, disability, privatisation, mental health and many more.

If you think this could benefit your group or you would like to screen films we have already shown, please get in touch

TONIGHT they're showing a film on Peace Brigades International, at 7.30pm

I think that's the end of their current season ( the 8th! ), but another one will be along soon.

There are 3 other groups who show films at the side, catering for cinema buffs, queer and politics/art tastes.

To get to the Side, walk down from Grey St, past the Crown Posada, til the street curves to your right at the Quayside. It's a doorway on your right and there should be a sign outside.

Anarchist Festival of Film and Ideas

11 - 13 December 2004

This will be a major event taking place in central Newcastle, featuring rare and radical films. The evenings will have music and entertainment, the daytimes will have talks and discussions between the films.

We are inviting bookstalls, local groups and artists to get involved – if there’s something you would like to contribute, get in touch! It will also be an occasion where anarchists from all over the North East can get together, and where those interested in anarchist ideas can find out much more.

We are also interested in showing films in other locations in the North East before this event. If you might be interested in hosting one of these events, get in touch!

Projectile will also be at the Anarchist Bookfair ( London, Saturday 27th November ) running a session on how to set up a film festival. www.anarchistbookfair.org

We are meeting every couple of weeks to screen films and discuss what would be best for the film festival. If you are interested in getting involved, write to Projectile PO Box 1TA, NE99 1TA or keep your eyes open for the leaflets and website we’ve not quite got ready yet.
