Lets try to mobilise to this from further afield as well, please spread the word and get your mates over to swell the numbers.
It should be a good day out anyway, there will be a social at the basement afterwards and so on.
Lets go!
We had people there from Liverpool, Preston, Halifax as well as Manchester. We agreed a lot of stuff - like flyposting, stickering, a leaflet to be handed out and so on.
(If you're bringing a camera, please don't photograph me - or if you do, then blot out my face if it's published.)
On the way back Mrs Knightrose saw a fabric shop, so now we've got plenty of black and red material to make flags with. All we need to do now is make them
)
I agree with JDMF - it'd be great to get a couple of hundred on the demo with us. Let's use this as a chance to make oursleves seen, not to be swamped by the SWP.
The event added to manc solfed site:

And invitations sent around to get people from further...
here is the mobilisation call from the stop the warmongers:
More than just a Demonstration – a Week of Resistance
More than anti-war – FOR peace and social justice, public services and civil liberties, rights for refugees
STOP THE WARMONGERS
RALLY OF RESISTANCE
From 1pm onWednesday 27th September 2006
In the middle of Labour’s Conference week, people will be getting together in St Peters Square (where the Peterloo Massacre took place nearly 200 years ago).
There is no agenda, the event is not owned by anyone or any group. Everyone is welcome who is angry with Labour’s warmongers:
- Refugees who have been the victims of these new wars
- Anti nuclear campaigners who are trying to stop new nuclear missiles (and get rid of the old ones too!)
- Activists who want civil disobedience to new “anti-terrorism” laws
- Direct action against the warmongers, throughout Manchester, throughout the week.
* This is an event without organisers, without seeking the permission of the state to take to our own streets, an event that everyone can tell everyone else about, in person, by email, text, website or word of mouth, until the centre of our city of peace is filled by people who don’t want to be governed by those who have armed, allowed and encouraged the warmongers to ride roughshod over the people of Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon……
* This is an event without an agenda – just say “no” to war and “yes” to peace and social justice.

i may well be gracing your fair city with my presence too. my lady's probably coming too, and is used to hanging out with @n@rk1stzzz like you scruffy lot.
awesome, will be great to meet you mate. Come and say hi, i'll be the one who eats something at any given time.
i may leave my self imposed semi retirement and turn up to go wooooo at the main protagonists with no affect whatsoever but it makes me feel good. i even have a flag although i might let a small child hold it. have you seen the lovely picture of people holding anarchist flags on redwatch jdmf? i have to say, its not my best side.
hey lucy82, i have an idea: if you are free, come to the placard making session on the previous thursday so you could make a placard saying "This wont change anything - time to organise!" (actually, not a bad idea for a placard at all!)
Or "Hi mom, i'm on redwatch!"
Please be aware of the following information:Manchester is preparing for thousands of extra visitors during the Labour Party Annual Conference in the city in September, from Friday September 22 for one week. Manchester bids to host major conferences as part of its regeneration strategy – conferences mean big business, visitors, investment and return tourism.
The conference will probably mean that restaurants, hotels and roads in the city centre will be extra busy, especially around the conference venue – G-MEX, the Manchester International Conference Centre - and the Midland and Radisson Hotels.
There will be restricted access to some areas and diversions will be in place for traffic and pedestrians. All road changes will be signposted at least one week in advance, but if you are planning to travel to this area of Manchester during the week of the conference, you are advised to plan your journey and/or car parking, and allow more time than usual.
Bus and tram schedules are unlikely to be affected, but you can check latest details on www.gmpte.com
From September 16, to allow for site preparations, there will be restricted access for cars and pedestrians to part of Mount Street (from outside Central Library to outside G-MEX), and to part of Watson St (from the car park access to Peter Street).
From September 22, restrictions for cars will be introduced on:

Bloody hell. The map makes it look like they're sealing off quite a bit of real estate there.
The policing bill is apparently £4.2 million (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/5128004.stm) so there'll be plenty of our stalwart friends in blue (or flourescent yellow these days, but it doesn't sound as good) clocking up the overtime.
Members of the AF and Solfed met this afternoon and dicsussed putting together an anarchist block on the Stop the War Demo on 23rd September. We want to make our collective presence felt as much as posible, so we are inviting all other anarchists on the demo to join with us. We'll be meeting up at 12.30 in the Peace Gardens, just round the corner from Albert Square. We'll be the ones with the black and red flags
. If you miss us there, we should be pretty visible on the demo itself.
We are also meeting up the previous Thursday - the 21st - at the Basement to produce some placards. Hopefully enough to hand out to folk and for ourselves too.
