no

12 January, 2008 - 22:49

What will the prices of the beer be like?

13 January, 2008 - 12:09

The beer is fine and competitively priced against nearby Bradford taverns.

The club is renowned for its attractive bar staff, the ambiance of its seating arrangement and the spectacular views from the windows.

What more could youi want?

LW,
To my shame I don't know. But they have a website. Try:
Iin12events or 1in12club. And let us know.

IIRC, it was the proportion of the local population who were signing on the dole at the time the place was set up. Could be wrong though.

As long as fundamental anarchist principles like Timothy Taylor pints of bitter and good Yorkshire pies are upheld, I'm happy.

Oh ok - was half joking about the UB40 comment (see the companion thread! ) but i still thought it would make sense..

One in ten is easier to rhyme.. smile

Will have a lil google later.

I seem to remember it being about the number of fraudulent dole claims...

The group organising the weekend met last night in the bar of the club.

The following beverages, in varying amounts, were consumed: Budweiser, Organic Lager, Smith's Bitter, Jamesons.

The club's name was adopted in 1982 when an official report for Margaret Thatcher stated that 1 in 12 claimants were otherwise engaged in shady jobs, voluntary work or unofficial community projects.

The weekend will be periodically updated. Accommodation, from basic to luxurious, will be available.

Bradford is among the most impoverished cities in Western Europe. It has a superb Gothic Town Hall and a nice modern bus station. Its womenfolk are renowned for their great beauty.

i heard it came from a government report saying that 1 in every 12 people were fiddling their benefits claims.

I've got a feature I did for Freedom for their 25 birthday somewhere which goes into the club's history, reasonably intereresting stuff I might dig it out.

29 January, 2008 - 17:44

1 in 12 = how many people were scamming dole (possibly according to tatcher?).

29 January, 2008 - 17:47

Well at least we know now which people don't read the whole thread before posting wink

29 January, 2008 - 18:00

Was it me?
