*shudder*
Worthwhile cause and everything, that is possibly worst call out I have ever seen. The squat party scene probably has the worst politics I have ever seen.
On the 3rd of Feb, assemble at 4pm at Cathedral Gardens aka "Urbis" and
WEAR AS MUCH BLACK AS POSSIBLE. Bring banners and flyers, etc...Behave appropriately- this is a peaceful protest, zero tolerance policy
amongst protestors toward aggressors- We're speaking out AGAINST
mindless
violence, not organizing a big get-together to engage in it.There was a lot of bad press MAINLY because of one twat and his macho
"I'll smash an ambulance and everyone'll think I'm proper core, innit"
mindset at the time. We want to EDUCATE, not instigate. We want to show SOLIDARITY in the face of evil scum using a warehouse
full
of party people as a training ground for wannabe riot cops. Could they
do
it to us in town, with all the CCTV? Dunno. Look up "the Battle Of
Peterloo" on Google. This incident on the 20th has been called "The
Battle
Of Belle-Vue".We want our basic rights back. We won't stop until the mainstream media
covers us REGULARLY and informs the general public of our causes and
achievments, not just pointing out isolated incidents perpetrated by
people who are obviously idiots. There will be collections at the
protest
to give to the Ambulance Service, to cover as much as we can towards
the
cost of the smashed window. Should the person who did it read this,
we're
not asking for your name, just you put a nice little donation (?) in
the
pot.Be smart people.
Be lucky...
Spread this like wildfire
A better callout...
marginally.
Its hard to get round the bad politics of the free-party crews sometimes, assertions about how the police should catch some 'real criminals' etc and selective values towards property.
But this is a potentially decent event and i would applaud any attempt to politicise the parties a bit, especially if they are looking to do so themselves.
PS - nowt wrong with writing you're own callout if you are supporting the vent
The politics of the call outs aren't brilliant, but this is a really good sign:

If there's one thing that might have potentially fucked this up, it'd be idiots trying to justify anti-social behaviour.

You're right, that is very cool. I missed that, ta.
i think people in the rave scene should be given a bit more credit for their politics. There is a growing left wing movement within the rave scene. I think picking apart the wording of callouts for events and using these to criticise people you don't know and know nothing about is childish and unfair.
The kindest, most intelligent and socially concious people i have ever met are all from the rave scene and i think its counterproductive for anarchists to dismiss these people as stupid druggies.
We should be helping to build an anarchist movement within the free party scene, not throwing childish comments at the people involved.
P.S. There may be no e in communism but there are e's in love, peace and freedom. Thats really what the free party scene is all about.

...and very much what libcom forums are like.
hey the demo was awesome i thought! I only popped by for a few minutes but was impressed by the turnout and the energy.

if people here are saying shit like that, its just out of elitism and hatred of lifestyle anarchism. A sizeable minority or possibly majority of people here are not averse to chemically based stimulants twinned with repetitive beats at all...
I will slag of the freeparty scene for its failings, but that doesn't mean you won't find me in front of the speakers in an east london warehouse every sunday morning.
All the best
errghh wot was that all about, rather we cant be doing with that mates !this would be a good post on indymedia or sumthing ....
Its already on there:

We got a mention in manchester evening news and the metro too.
Michelle:
Nobody is dismissing anybody as anything, but this is a political discussion site, and people are going to pick up on political points. Besides which, most people who've posted on this thread have been supportive of the demo, regardless of any funny comments they might have made, you're being well over sensitive here.
P.s. Peace and love are for hippies and liberals
In other, slightly less angry words than the site i grabbed this off, we're not happy with what the police did at the rave. BTW demo is being held at 4 o clock.
