THE REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE TELEVISED

Film at the Blackcurrent Centre Thursday 29th June Start 7.00pm

This is a documentary made about the 1999 attempted coup against Venezuelan ‘man of the people’ and leader of the ‘Bolivarian Revolution’

Hugo Chavez. - I met members of the Hands Off Venezuela Campaign at last Monday’s May Day Rally and they offered to come to Northampton to introduce the film and help organise a public meeting – we have not heard back from them about arranging this, otherwise we may have considered postponing the film. Apparently Chavez is visiting London, at the invitation of Ken Livingstone 15/16 May.

Also – The Struggle For Water, a short film about a Zapatista community in Southern Mexico who successfully resisted the governments attempts to privatise water resources.

Film starts at 7.30 / Free Admission / All Welcome

Sorry for the short notice, I've just been informed that we are hoping to postpone this film as the 'Hands off Venezuela' people have said that they can introduce it but at a later date. It will still be shown if anyone turns up, but it would be better if people came to the alternative showing which will be organised and advertised in the near future.

Is there an alternative film being shown tonight?

If punters turn up to see it we will have to put it on -otherwise, what do you fancy? -Nick has an interesting selection of films from Sol Fed -how about Libertarias about Mujeres Libres -free women, of the Spanish Revolution, or The Jewish Anarchists, the maker of this docu, the great US historian Paul Avrich, died recently. We should watch The Struggle for Water which is only 15mins or so.

Hopefully Hands of Venezuela Campaign will confirm a date very soon -either 25th or 1st June which would give us plenty of time for publicity - they are overstretched preparing for the Chavez visit this weekend . circle A
