Anyone know if there is a record of strikes in NZ?
Just curios if there has ever been a strike at my workplace (its been around since the 40's).
I asked the union delegate and he says there hasnt been in his time, and went on to add "I dont like the word strike...", and advocating work to rule.
Are there publicly available records from unions or anything like that?

Entdinglichung - Convert seems to be looking for information on strikes at specific sites though, not statistics around the number of strikes in a given time period (which is all stats.govt will have AFAIK)
this woman rings our office every few weeks from the DoL asking about what strikes have occured and where. so i presume they are keeping some kind of record...
Could you try searching for strikes through bourgeois media websites?
There'd only be the attention grabbing ones on there though.
Omar is right (as was my guess) - the DoL do keep records of strikes. Sending an OIA is prob the easiest way to get what you're looking for.

You could try an OIA request to the Department Of Labour? They'd probably be the most likely to have records (prob only of legal strikes though).
