I'm currently embroiled (or about to be embroiled) in a dispute with my university. Myself and another coursemate have approached the SU and they believe it to be in breach of my contract with regard to options for my proposed year studying abroad. This is simply one of many cutbacks throughout the university, including halving the number of tutors in the Art department (yeah, I know, it's the flagship course
). The next step we're taking is a meeting with the head of our department early next week, and, assuming he upholds the departmental administrator's line, we're getting the union involved. Any tips?

ah yes, my girlfriend had a sort of similar situation when she was a student. she went on an erasmus placement in rotterdam but when she came back the uni refused to recognise her grade because rules had changed since she went away.
she went down pretty much the same route as you did, and it worked out okay for her in the end. but she didn't get the union involved, and as a result she had to fight very hard indeed. then again, she can be very very scary, which is useful. i'll ask her what exactly happened and (try to remember to) get back to you...
