Flyposting tips and tricks

Can anyone offer a first time flyposters some tips and tricks, like discrete ways to carry paste around cos I don't particularly want to carry a bucket, or alternative formulas for making posters stick without mass hassle.
Any tips and tricks would be well appreciated.

Yeah, a few plastic bags inside each other is much better than a bucket. Be careful with which bags you use though as most carrier bags have holes in nowadays. 
The main thing is you just have to be confident and look like you're supposed to be there. Try not to worry about passers by and just get on with the job.

IME a bucket INSIDE a large plastic bag (S****bury's have a suitable one) works quite well - you get the best of both worlds.
a roller instead of a brush can be good too.
making sure there is paste on both sides of all four corners of the poster is very important too.

could try a bottle with nozzle thing on the top, like you get on some bottles of mineral water works well and reduces mess. For larger jobs that need to be done quickly i've found a thermos and roller and tray is good.
for paste wall paper paste is best, you can make glue from flour and water (and a bit of curry powder) but it seems like more more hassle than its worth.

Make sure you get the top of the poster nice and horizontal before you start rolling the rest down or it ends up wonky. And for added impact if you find a good space put a few next to each other.

yep, placky bags work well and by the end of the day I just end up using my hand as a brush 
Don't forget to put a disclaimer on it if it's a traceable event.
A mate of a mate has just got an ASBO for flyposting their band's fun raiser event.
I'm thinking of experimenting with varnish, or stenciling with glass etching cream, kinda really fucks with polished marble

Carry your paste in a soft drink bottle with a 'sports nozzle'. Carry your brush in a coat pocket lined with a plastic bag. This way you can travel about without arising any suspicion. To stick up a poster, squeeze a bit of paste onto the brush and then spread it on the target. Put the poster down and brush over it. For extra difficulty of removal, slash the poster with a razor in a few different directions - this means that it can't be peeled off all at once.

don't get too carried away by using pre-made stuff thats relevent to the ad in an arty way.
stuck on stuff can get taken off relatively quickly.
don't discount the permenance of spray paint. all ads are wrong.

Or, you could just get caught by the police, and be told "flyposting is ok so long as it's not offensive material". At least that's what happened to me and Jack last night.

what posters were they?
Were they the ones by a fake faction in the AWL which Jack invented?

I use something called pritt-stick, which is a safe and solvent free light paste. It comes in a tube. I use it for leaflets which can be peeled off easily, which is a disadvantage if you want the poster to stay for a long time.
One time I pasted a army recruit office with anti-DU leaflets, which looked good early in the morning, but were all peeled off a few hours after the office opened. I've also dome MacDonalds, Starbucks, and other corporate monstrosities. They don't like it.
During the daylight hours, what I usually do is get a newspaper and lay one or two leaflets ontop of it. Then I walk along pretending to read the paper, and as I get close to the target I casually apply the pritt-stick over the back of the leaflets. I then press the newspaper against the target and then walk away leaving the leaflets in place. I then leave that area and then do it somewhere else. But I always try to go back to the initail area to add a few more.
If you're patient and careful you can do quite a bit.

They were so liberal. They said "Stop the bloodshed" and had a picture of a bleeding Iraqi child. I felt like a dirty animal rights activist trying to guilt people into supporting my cause with disturbing imagery.

A krishna monk gave me some good tips.
if you get a telescopic pole with a largeish brush on the end,
and make up some thick wallpaper paste you can get posters on
high up places.
just paste on the high up surface, like on the back of a road sign,
then put the poster on the brush, lift it up, stick it on the back
of the sign, then paste over the top like normal.
