G8 Leaflet
Are there any good leaflets I can dish out explaining what the G8 is?
A few people are planning to attend in June and a gig/stall are planned.
(Wow, I feel so socialised in libcom right now...)

Is there any good reason for a class-struggle type to go to that leftie-fest?

that was a useful post
I just wouldn't re-use the ones from the G8 in scotland. God they were appalling. I wish I'd saved some of them now. Like the monkey sticker and the poster thing with "this is old style, this is the new" with a photo of some punks on it.
i have a monkey sticker at home somewhere...
you mean the one with the angry gorilla staring at the camera, with "DO SOMETHING!" underneath?
I've got that on my computer. when one of the lights is illuminated it looks like the gorilla has some mystic third eye shit going on

Yeah that's the one.

That should be one of libcom's permamnent links for future reference.
I think the only copy I have is the one stuck to my computer, can try and get a digital photo and upload it tho.
a bunch of those were well weird....I've also got the black and white one of a guy with a TV for a head reading "G8 Brainwash" about to blow his brains out. which is a bit, um.....
wtf?
stickers must be on imc somewhere

Im not going to disagree with this much. But I went to Genoa a number of years back and it did have a massive impact on my politics, theres no reason why publicising the nature of these events and the mechanics involved in the G8 are going to be bad for our movement. Yet I would prefer something to be done local but someone we know in the area is going and wants to gather support and pass out info to the non-informed.
just try typing Dissent in google and take your pick.
Genoa occurred during a massive swell of anti-alienation anger and questioning, in a context of that "anti-globalisation" movement the media were so keen on talking about. Then those Ayrabs flew some planes on 9-11 and all changed. The spectacular actions now aren't so spectacular and the public interest has moved on.
Summit protest actions before and now aren't comparable.
