i am wondering if there are many of you are 21 or under who would be interested in forming an Anarchist group based on the ideas of Peter Kropotkin and Mikhail Bakunin in London. I think I may know someone else interested but apart from that there's only me. I think this would be a good idea to organise at a local level like this. The group would work completely horizontally. The group would be based on the idea of direct action and meetings of the group would consist of activism and action rather than discussion and conventional sit down meetings. That's not to say discussion wouldn't be encouraged.

At the least, myself and a few friends would be interested in talking about this. Our local 'solidarity group' (activist group wank) is a bad joke.

The Lambeth & Southwark Anarchist group. The 5 members had been meeting for something like 2 years and in that time have done literally fuck all. Its only function is as a forum for discussing the single issue activisms of the members. Despite this, it was felt neccessary to give participants codenames in the minutes of meetings.

The one meeting I went to was in a squatted social centre run by hippy types around my age...none of whom attended the meeting despite it being in their home...think that says it all.

Don;t know anything about the group in question but i think its worth saying that there are a wide selection of anarchist and other libertarian left groupings out there in London. Off the top of my head theres south/north london solfed and afed branches, action east end, whitechapel anarchist group, HSG, HI and LCAP. None of those are perfect by any means, but none of them can be characterised as lifestylist hippy squat crap.
All the aforementioned groups have a wide range of problems, and if you and your mates genuinely think you can overcome the shortcomings of the various groups or you think you've got something to offer people then thats fair play, i think someone posted a link on recollections of AYN stuff on here not so long ago that shows both the positives and negatives of starting up a new organisation and good luck if youse do decide to start something up.
Anyways if your feeling the urge to do summat why not go to the LCAP event on saturday for example http://www.lcap.org.uk/

There was a meeting on 31st Jan at LARC about setting up local anarchist groups.
It was agreed to set up a London Network of Radical Local Groups, backed by a website RadicalLondon, which is being developed i believe.
The idea is that people who want to start a group can get support from existing groups if needed.

There may be other meetings but in the meantime, and before the website is set up, whoever's interested can check this page.
