Leeds refuse workers strike ends after 11 weeks

Anyone know specific details? Sounds like a significant victory, but that's mostly coming from the unions and usual leftists who are quick to proclaim anything as winning. However, in this case seems justified. Most people not getting pay cuts (£500 loss the biggest loser, lots going up), but looks like some extra hours and Sunday working - this seems more like the council trying to save face than a real sell out.

Interesting it comes so soon after Brighton cityclean workers battered the council in a similar dispute, hopefully a good sign for the future!

Leeds sources (not that they necessarily have any special inside info, they just live in Leeds), say about 20 people are still getting wage cuts, and "the number of routes is being reduced. The only way I can figure they're doing that is if they're sacking people and making everyone else pick up the slack, meaning more hours for the same money, meaning wage cuts are happening." No details beyond that, tho.

It didn't have much more context, the email I took it from was about 5 lines long. Will let you know if I hear anything more substantial.

Someone connected with the strike told me there had been wage increases for some workers, of some kind - tho connected to some bullshit productivity targets or something.

That's right folks, J is no longer just an internet hobbyist - I talk to actual anarchies now, face to face and everything.
