March 28th - who's out?

Right, NUT is being 'surveyed' about this despite the fact that there's a clear mandate for discontinuous strike action carrying over from June 30th ballot last year.

NUT trailing their - won't be surprised if it's called off due to 'not enough people responding to survey' etc etc

According to their latest briefing:

'If the votes are high enough then we will be striking on 28th March along with the PCS, UCU, EIS, SSTA and NIPSA unions at least.' [my emphasis]

We do not currently expect the NASUWT to be taking action, but that can change, especially with pressure from their members to join us. Having joint letters/petitions/motions to both Christine Blower at the NUT c.blower@nut.org.uk and Chris Keates at the NASUWT chris.keates@mail.nasuwt.org.uk calling on the unions to strike together against the attacks on 28th March will be a really big help! If we cannot get the NAS to join us for 28th March then the success of our action on the day will be the crucial factor in getting them to join us in future actions.'

Anyone know if any other unions are out?

Same, I never got my ballot, last time I phoned three times and emailed twice, this time I did the same, still no ballot.
The right had quite a big win in the UCU elections and rumour is they want to pull us out of the strike now.

Unison is obviously not doing anything, as they signed up for the heads of agreement. However, the left is trying to organise a special conference of the local government service group, in order to try to withdraw from the deal. I doubt they'll get anywhere, as even if they do get a conference together they are still a long way from pulling out of the deal.

In unison local government, because so many of the members are low paid, the main issue was the increase in contribution rates. In the heads of agreement there is a commitment from the government to try to avoid contribution rises altogether. But the government say they are not offering any extra money, so presumably they may end up swapping a freeze in contribution rates with reduced benefits at the end. This is something I think most members will accept, which I think the union leadership realises.
