If interested please visit Subversion Through Fire.com (http://subversionthroughfire.weebly.com/).
We are a NZ based Anarchist group and have noticed how few other Anarchist groups (at least that we can find) are in NZ. We would like to organize events, eg. Anti-fascist, occupy, etc. Thanks.
Hi there comrades,
Its nice to see a new initiative here in quiet little Aotearoa. However like Asher I feel a bit weary of some of the stuff on your website... regardless of the merits of the weapons listed there (as well as propaganda of the deed, violence etc.) you might want to exercise a little more caution in terms of publicly advertising some quite illegal shit. I'm sure you're aware of the NZ government's crackdown on radicals and Tuhoe activists back in '07. I would strongly recommend you remove some of the more legally dubious content from your website.
Like Asher I'm a member of the AWSM and have been for a fair while now, there is also BR as well as plenty of other individuals and projects dotted around the place. I notice you are based in Christchurch. BR has a great local there, you should get in touch with them for a bit of a yarn.
But, please, wise up a little.
Hi. I agree that some of the things on the website are a bit extreme but I do not encourage use of them they are only informative. We only just started up so the website is still in progress. Hopefully soon we will be more organized. Thanks for the comments.
Also we are based in ChCh, and the name 'Subvert' was taken so we chose the current one 'Subversion through fire' until we come up with something better.
Is there a AWSM or BR in auckland?
There have been a few AWSM members in Auckland in the past, but they've all moved away from Auckland (I'm not surprised tbh, I can't stand the city!). So currently there's no AWSM up there.
Last I heard there was a sole BR member up there but not sure if he's still involved, hopefully someone from BR on LibCom can confirm one way or the other.
Yep, BR has a member in Auckland, PM me if you want his details.
Also Subvert, BR has regular events and meetings in Christchurch, although our meeting venue (the WEA) is closed for xmas. So we won't be meeting till Jan. But we have some events planned, and hoping to call an Anarchist Assembly to try and brainstorm/co-ordinate some kind of responses to the attacks that will come from the State next year. PM me, or check out our website: http://beyondresistance.wordpress.com/
Looks like you've worked on your webpage a bit Subvert, looks better. I can understand your anger and want to use those kind of methods to end capitalism, but there's lots of writing and historical examples on why it's not such a good idea. Kia ora,
Its nice to see more people getting involved in anarchist politics here in New Zealand. There's a bunch of other NZers here on LibCom, some post regularly and others less so - a good way to get an idea of the kind of things we're involved in is by checking out the Oceania forum here at http://libcom.org/forums/oceania if you haven't already.
Whereabouts in NZ are you based? Have you looked into or been in contact with any other anarchists who are already active in your centre? The Aotearoa Workers Solidarity Movement and Beyond Resistance are the two currently existing nationwide anarchist organisations, both have members in several centres across the country.
What kind of things are you interested in doing? From looking at your website, I think you really need to have a think about what you're actually trying to do - the most information heavy parts of your website are relating to building and using bombs, explosives etc, which is something so far removed from the state of class struggle in New Zealand as to be a) dangerous, b) ineffective and c) quite frankly stupid. I also note that you mention defences against gas attacks, which suggests to me that you're pretty disconnected from how things work over here - the Police in New Zealand have never used gas in a protest, rebellion, revolt, strike etc etc.
Anyway, I look forward to your reply, hearing about what kind of things you might want to do and getting to know you a bit better.
Solidarity!
