Postal workers of the World…
Hey!
It would be interesting to get in contact with other postal workers from around the world. Exchange experience on struggle and misery on the job. Especially workers that have been involved in strike action. It seems like the condition of postal work is quite a like in many countries so the chances are good that we can learn from each other. I work as a sorter in a terminal in Sweden. But contacts with carriers or drivers and what else are also useful as we are group of militant postal workers in Sweden that are trying to get connected to other radical postal workers.
Workers initiative in poland have recently been involved in a struggle in the postal workers which were on strike in Gdansk which spread nationally.
John: Yeah, I'm involved in Postverk. A communication project about and against the postal work - www.postverk.blogspot.com. For those that didn't know what it is (and I guess not that many people here know that). But it is useless, as for now anyway, if you don't read swedish. If we get time we may translate some of the content into english.
Our situation is almost no strike action and very little open struggle. Much of our struggle today is informal and not well organized. It's of cource not an ideal situation but on the other and it is not nothing - and we're working on it. The syndicalists stands for the most open chearing - lately around rasist mail and advertising mail (is that the way to say it in english?. The problem is that they (or we..) seldom organize more then a handful of workers on the office or terminl. In such a situation action outside the unions feels like main, not to say the only way. We've had some slow-downs, collective refusal of orders and bending of rules at my workplace and struggle exists, of cource, on many workplaces. That's part of what we communicate at postverk.
WeTheYouth: I heard about the polish strkes, and we spread the news from libcom to swedish postalworkers via postverk. Sad ending it seems though. Got any contacts? It was realy difficult to follow the strike in Sweden. Could only find reports on libcom, some crapy polish radiostation and the financial press with logins (fees).

Yeah I think most people don't know it. You're in the SAC yes? Is postverk just SAC members, or does it include other non-aligned people?

It would be interesting to read, if you have time of course.

Yeah racist or advertising, that's right. I don't know what you mean by "chearing" though?

Well we're glad libcom came in useful!
The poster who submitted those reports might know something, you could PM him/her ( http://libcom.org/user/laureakai ). Also they mention the Anarchist Federation Praga being involved, and as WTY says Workers Initiative, but I don't have contacts for them to hand.
There are both syndicalists and non-aligned. The hope is that we find ways of struggle and learn from eachother, as well as spreading our "point of view". As struggling self active (no mediators) workers. If you are a member of SAC, the majority union or no union at all shouldn't matter. But so far it is a dominans of SAC members but not with an organization perspective (that is we're not there to make gains for the syndicalists but for us as workers - the syndicalists can sometimes be a weapond and a way to organize and sometimes not).
Chearing.. Hm. Maybe hollabaloo, noice, appearence. Made them self heard in the community and press. I'm not that used to speak and write english so there can be strange words or sentences. It's good that you asked.

Hi Utter!
We are likely to be involved in Industrial Action in Royal Mail within the next couple of weeks. Have a look at http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/forum which has been set up for UK postal workers, I am sure they would be interested to hear from you.

Hi there utter!
Here is a list of our users who have stated they work in the communications sector:

Are you involved with postverk?
I can think of at least one other postal worker who has occasionally posted here, I'll send him a private message. I believe there's at least one postal worker in the IWW in Scotland who people here should be able to put you in touch with, and does anyone know if that Aufheben guy still works for royal mail?
