Solidarity Federation Nat conference

(Posted here because SolFed doesn't have its own section in these forums)

Hey, i've lost count who is a SolFed member here and who is not - anyways, any of you coming to the SolFed national conference in Edinburgh?

If you are, make sure to come and say hi. I'm the guy sitting in the corner drinking chocolate soya milk...

And it tastes better than the posh alpro one!

So correction to thye previous: i'll be the one drinking Aldi chocolate soya milk, but still sitting in the corner looking confused.

GT, great stuff man, i'll see you there! Are you sorted for a place to stay?

I'll be there. Drinking tea (proper tea with milk) and generally being grumpy as befits my age. wink

But I'll also be bringing my guitar, tongue or cry depending on your taste, for some social activity. I think Martinh will be as well.

Yes, I will, I have my ticket booked and my guitar tuned smile . Looks like I'll be the only Londoner, as our other SL comrade who was planning to come can't make it and I don't think anyone's going from NELSF.

I shall also be drinking tea, with milk in it. And probably being fairly grumpy, but not as grumpy as Steve wink

i've got a mate at uni there who for the past three years i've promised to go and visit, so i'm hoping to stay at his, although he didn't answer his phone when i tried to ring just now...

i won't be grumpy, at least not until i find none of you have moustaches as revolutionary as those sported by members of the cnt-zaragoza sov.

Hey when is this exactly? There's meant to be an IWW Assembly this weekend. IF it's around the same time (yeah fat chance you disorganised anarchists) I could kill two birds with one stone.

And drinking choco soya beveridges sounds fun to me. 8)

oi! leave the birds out of this angry

if you are SF member, you should have received an invitation in the internal bulletin. Its for members only because its like the decision making and pondering body of the fed.

Its on 25th i believe.

Such is my confidence in martinh to carry out his mandate, and fully express the views of South London SolFed that I don't need to come to the conference. wink

Plus if I did, that would be three guitars -- and (unless you're The Band of Susans) that's not good. tongue

Shame you're not going. I could have brought my mandolin to to give a bit of variety. I'll have to see if there are any other musical SFistas tongue coming.

At the moment it looks like 4 people coming from Manchester.

If more want to come, could we share rides with Preston lot? Steve, how many are coming from Preston? Is October_lost coming?

It looks like two from Preston. October Lost says he is esp as there is an EWN meeting but will confirm. I plan to go up Saturday morning if anyone wants a lift. I was going to go up on the train but it costs as much and takes longer! So two spare seats. (Car rules - the driver chooses the music)

nothing to write home about comrades, it was mostly a business meeting like conference, highlights in a nutshell:

- New local, Birmingham Solidarity Federation, was welcome to the fed.

- some international stuff, especially since the next IWA conference is held in Manchester, UK in December

- National Secretary is now T. from Manchester with rest of the local supporting if needed.

- int sec and treasurer continue (west yorkshire and northampton)

- education workers woill form a network (see www.ewn.org.uk )

and stuff like that. No big resolutions or fights smile

oh, and we opened the sol fed forums in libcom 8)

The coference was fine, low key, not much change. WE did decide to have some SolFed sections on libcom, internal & external to see how they go. We talked about the organisation of the IWA Congress in Manchester & we will be having a plenary & international conference later this year to finalise details/mandate delegates. Edinburgh is a nice city although it pissed down and we got soaked on Saturday night. cry

Thanx for the update. Glad there were no rows and glad the ship is steady and sailing smoothly.

Good in the work ahead.
