Tactics against neo-nazi's and racism.
Has anyone organized against any neo-nazi groups or been involved in any anti-racist organizing? I am just wondering if anyone had any ideas/tactics that could be used maybe. In my area a new anti-racist group has started up that I'm working with and it would be really helpful if people know of things that work and maybe doesn't work.
With us so far we are dealing with organizing against a small neo-nazi group that's part of a bigger party in the area that mostly sets up rallies and has so far tried to pressure an anti-racist workshop from happening. Also with other ideas to work on racism in our area. And ways to get more people to join our group and what to watch out for that might be non-inclusive or alienating to some. Also how to organize best with other groups that we might be able to join together with on issues.
It's kind of open about any ideas people might have or things they have done.
How about ignoring them and calmly & reasonably persuading people who might be persuaded by them there is a better way.
A lot of people that voted for them may not be racist but have made a protest vote.
Let's hope so anyway.
Well, just showing up plays a big part. Any time a "rally" is met by a protest that eclipses it in size it sends a message. We stand together in opposition of your ignorance. Also, direct confrontation. Most of the time these racist assholes are cowards anyway, if you arrive at the scene with a mixed bag of all different people, all different races, it shows solidarity in anti-racism. Don't be afraid to get in their faces. Bring lots of cameras too.One other thing, remember don't come off as anti white, make sure it's clear that you are against racism in ALL it's forms.
Yes we are showing up when they have something. People protested and were able to have them leave when they tried to pressure an anti-racist workshop from happening and this last weekend we went to a rally of theirs and people were able to drown their hateful b.s. out for the most part but the cops and this liberal group were there to protect them which wasn't that good. We also brought camera's. And these people have already distorted things so that everyone who is against them is against the white race and they think we are commies. And with the recent rally they made it out to be that there were more people there opposing them than was actually there but it seemed that it was for the purpose of making them seem stronger since they "held their ground in the face of such opposition" or whatever.
