Tax credits!

HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THE MISFORTUNE OF THE GOVERNMENT OVERPAYING TAX CREDIT, IT BEING THE GOVERNMENTS MISTAKE AND NOW THREATENING TO TAKE THEM TO COURT. I HAVE FOUND MYSELF IN THIS SITUATION AND WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ADVICE BEFORE I GO GUY FAWKES ON THEIR ASS!!!!

I've managed to help the odd punter with this in my time. The best thing to have is proof you queried the amount they paid you soon after they made the award. Even if you've no reason to suspect they've made an error, everyone should get proof they've queried their award as protection.
I assume you've not come into a lot of money in the last couple of tax years, if you suddenly get rich, they'll take the money back. I would of course advise a visit to your local C.A.B.

If they're still paying you tax crredits then they ought to just take the money back out of future payments.
Why did you post this all in capitals?
