Union of Anarchists of Ukraine (SAU)

hey - just heard briefly about this organization on this page:
http://www.blackcatpress.ca/Kontrrazvedka.html

in the short description of the organization, they say the organization stands for "legal anarchism and evolutionary destatification of society."

so... anyone know about these guys? are they actually an Anarchist political party in the Ukraine? because that's what it sounds like from the description...

Not only is it a political party, but there is a strong capitalist current in it. From what people tell me, some more "normal" anarchists joined in one city last year, but it is in general, pretty scary, especially the capitalists who like Makhno - but this isn't too odd in the context where some people were portraying Makhno as some sort of "third position".

From what I've been told by the guy who translated the book they are basically reformist anarchists. They don't advocate revolution and believe in a gradual change to an anarchist society.

What's creepy is the capitalism, the political party and the occasional photo montage rally pictures I saw where they superimposed black flags in people's hands.

I think even on the 'capitalist' tip they aren't unified honestly. From what the translator of the above book said they petitioned the Ukrainian government for control of a certain backwater city, this included some industry from what I'm told. It didn't sound like their agenda was privatization they are probably just really politically pluralistic to the point of contradiction.

Anyways the book is really good and has nothing to do with these guys.
