The reports this week about police state brutality in Italy have genuinely shocked me. I was clearly naive.

On the one hand it makes anarchist revolution look deeply attractive, but it also begs the question:

A totally different kind of question. I'm reading this book on the Autonomia in Italy, one of the driving forces of which was feminist autonomous movements. There was conflict between them and workerist movements because the feminists believed women needed liberation as women, not just as workers.

A question triggered by a comment on yesterday's thread by Saii that a mother who employs her son is a nepotistic minor capitalist.

First of all, I accept that in an anarchist (particularly pacifisct anarchist) context, crime would be reduced, so you've already won one argument.

I'm not an anarchist but I might be. I'm very attracted to some anarcho-primitivist thinking and living, and Christian-anarcho-pacifism.

Feminist Self Defence Weekend Workshop

Radical practical feminist self defence in Glasgow. 19th-20th April. All women welcome.

* We learn and practice both physical and verbal strategies, share our experiences and role play different ways of dealing with situations.

So, in the next little while I want to do two wide-angle feature pieces on areas of the UK which due to Freedom's position in London sometimes get overlooked - Scotland and Wales. We're publishing the second part of our look at Russia in the coming issue and it seems a bit weird that we've never done the same for areas of the UK.

Four BNP newspaper sellers showed up Buchanan Street Glasgow this afternoon (Saturday 5th April 2008). They were quickly surrounded and blockaded into ineffectuality by combined action of anarchists, SWP-ers, CPB-ers, and other comrades. They left once their newspapers had been ripped up.

Hi, I've been in contact with a Georgian (as in, ex-Soviet satellite country) libertarian socialist who is coming to work in Edinburgh soon. He speaks half decent English and likes Georges Sorel. Are there any comrades in Edinburgh that would like to meet this guy? He's interested in meeting syndicalists.

This year marks the fortieth anniversary of the spectacular events of the 1968 Paris uprising. May and June of that year saw over 9 million French workers on strike allied with rebelling students of Nanterre and other universities.

Around 17 NF came up from England for this. Supposedly staying at Sauchiehall Street near Kelvingrove Park in one of the Hostels/B+Bs there. Police kept them a long distance from the march itself.
