The next Radical Independent Bookfair (RIB) will be held on the 4th August at the Kinning Park Complex (Cornwall Street Glasgow G41 1AB). Entry free. There'll be the usual mass of stalls, with interactive free dvd library to use.

The last RIB in May (held at the CCA), had loads of different meetings and discussions (IWW, Glasgow anarchists etc) and cultural events (film shows, plays), which were also free. This one has a number of events planned alongside included a stream of discussions on the theme of education and neoliberalism'.

There are panels arranged on:
Principles of Autonomous, Radical and Community Education
Includes speakers from Zapatista Solidarity groups.

Learning lessons from education struggles
With speakers from the Save GU at the Crichton Campaign

The Dark Side of Academe:
With speakers looking at, amongst other things Universities' involvement in the arms industry

Round Table: Education and Neo-Liberalism - Threats and Opportunities.
I dunno, what this, perhaps a rumble between the eggheads...

Feel free to come along and participate.

If you want to formally contribute to an existing panel or suggest one of your own, then please contact Jay at: education_rib@hotmail.co.uk

Yup they'll be good and there's a film show at 7pm on 'death in the work place' -- I guess after that we'll be needing a drink
