OK.

We seem to have established that there are some Anarchists/Anarcho-Syndicalists/Anti-Authoritarians/whatever are currently living and/or working in the South West.

We've got threads (and forum members) from Plymouth, Exeter, Budleigh and so on to prove this.

What I'm suggesting is that those of us in the South West, and especially in Devon and Cornwall, should arrange some sort of meeting to share ideas and experiences.

We could at least see if we can work together on issues that matter in the area.

I'm a new member of the Anarchist Federation, but rather than simply go on some manic, Trot-style "Lets recruit everybody into the AF (and shaft everyone else for our own aims) because we must build, build, build the movement" idea, I'm merely suggesting that Anarcho's of all groups and none should have some sort of meetup and see where we could go from there. If anywhere.

I should stress that we should aim for as little sectarian "My group's better than yours" todger waving as possible.

PM me if any of you fine folk are interested.

From what I've seen on the South West forum there are at least some people interested in networking.

Hope to hear from at least some of you soon.

Hello, I moved to Falmouth from Barcelona two months ago. all I can find here is "artists" and fancy Bars, and I´m sick of that. My work situation is shit, and I think is the same for losts of people, but don´t know any groups that do anything about that in here. I haven´t seen any squats or non commercial radios, or anarchist magazines or any activity of that sort. No reaction about what happened in Greece, no nothing. I'll be happy to go to a meeting if it happens.

I would certainly be very interested in some sort of meeting and fully agree with the criteria: an open forum. I cannot speak for the others who participate in the Exeter Discussion Group, but I think they would also be very interested in such a meeting.

I'm a member of the Exeter Discussion Group and would definitely be interested in making some links. We are currently holding meetings on the 4th Thursday of the month in Exeter, in the evening. These are open to anyone, so please feel free to come along to them. If you'd like more information, let me know and I'll give you some further info. However, given the places people are based (Plymouth, Falmouth, etc.) this might not be practical for many.

If people are interested in having a meeting in Exeter (which is fairly central for most of the participants) but at an alternative time (a Saturday for example) then it may be possible for those of us here to arrange something.

Obviously, if people make alternative arrangements in Plymouth or whatever, please let us know and we'll do our best to attend.

Contact Demogorgon303 for details, I am not sure if we have been able to book the room we usually use. The group has also decided upon the next three topics: What does the election of Obamha mean? The war in Afghanistan and Iraq, and the crisis, demo can give you more details.

Hello all; I tried contacting the Exeter Discussion Circle through the link, but not having a myspace account... ah well. Serves me (and the Midlands Discussion Forum) right for being tragically unhip. We are your provincial and luddite cousins...

Anyway: I'd like to extend on behalf of the Midlands Discussion Forum the following invitation to all participants and contacts of the Exeter Discussion Circle, and anyone else from the South-West who might be able to make it:

Invitation to Public Meeting

At a time when even our rulers admit the current crisis will be worse than the Great Depression, a heavy responsibility now lies on our shoulders to present and develop our views – not least of all, to each other.

You are invited to participate in an important meeting being hosted by the Midlands Discussion Forum, with the aim of providing a major opportunity to put across ideas and perspectives at this critical juncture, on a subject profoundly significant for the working class and its future.

Topic: "How can the working class respond to the current economic crisis?"

Date: 25 April, 2009

Time: 1pm – 5pm

Venue:Friends of the Earth Warehouse
54-57 Allison St
Digbeth
Birmingham
B5 5TH

Arrangements

Each group is asked to nominate someone to speak on the topic to the meeting, followed by a period for questions and discussion with the audience. There will be a slot in the session for the distribution and sale of literature. The precise details will be provided at a later stage. Please let us know as soon as possible whether your organisation will be able to take part and how many delegates you will be able to send, so that we may finalise arrangements.
