Dorset Anarchists?

Submitted by Fuego Revolucinario on 2 November, 2006 - 08:01.

Hi, I'm new to the forum.

I'm looking for anarchists and/or libertarian communists in North Dorset area, either to participate in anything going on (if? it's pretty dead here it seems) or organise/create a group (be it for discussion, direct action, creating self-reliance schemes in community etc) if somebody is up for it.

Hi Fuego Revolucinario

Whilst being neither anarchists or libterarian communists or in North Dorest, the ICC is in Exeter. We would be more than happy to discuss Left communism etc with you and we could get to North Dorset if needs be.
More generally, there are several people around the region interested in Communism, libertarian Anarchism etc but due to the size of the area are pretty isolated. It would be good if it were possible for everyone to meet up and discuss, regularly if possible. There are obviously a whole range of political views but if there were some forum for the discussion and confrontation of these views, such as a discussion circle, this would enable a discussion of the revolutionary alternative to captialism to take place.

Hey, I'm sorry for delay in reply. I've not had much time to be on here and didn't check back into this thread.
I used to live in Exeter and got friends I could stay with and could possibly try to get there in january - could you please let me know the details (dates and where) here or pm?
How many of you would be able to travel up to North Dorset?
It would be good to get something going.
I'm not very familiar with ICC & would like to hear more and of course broad political discussion is great.
Thanks.

Hi Fuego Revolucinario

Thanks very much for the reply and I will PM you about possible details for January.
I will discuss with the others in Exeter who I know would like to meet up to have discussions about us all meeting up in January. Is there anyone else in the region would would be interested in getting together to discuss in a discussion forum?
The ICC is of course interested in discussing with anyone who wants to discuss our politics, but this is separate from a discussion forum. Such forums are places where those interested in a revolutionary alternative to capitalism can come together and discuss: for example the Midlands Discussion Forum libcom.org/forums/midlands
libcom.org/forums/midlands.

A new group has started up in Bournemouth.

Alterglobalisation Bournemouth is a discussion group for people who want to question the status quo and who are looking to imagine alternatives (for global politics and for everyday life). Folk who've come along so far have been inspired by a variety of movements and ideas, from fair trade to Indymedia, anarchism to buddhism, and feminism to the Zapatistas. There is no 'party-line', only a request to listen respectfully to each other. All welcome!
