What do people think about the commoning and p2p movement? I attended some of their discussions during occupy at bank of ideas and tent city university and they had some interesting/convincing theories and some of it already a reality albeit in immaterial products such as wikipedia, free software and online educational tools.
yes admittedly I agree there is a bit of that, some of the commoning stuff (as expressed by the school of commoning) is a bit cultish, but the p2p stuff is the only convincing (and dynamic) alternative to capitalist forms of production I've heard, there are no other visions out there as far as I can see, it would be good to hear if there are though
the only time i have heard the term commoning is usually by marxist influenced folks. This doesn't seem to be coming out of that milieu from the sound of it. Any links to stuff I can read?
maybe it's just a more acceptable way of saying communism:

and here's some info re p2p stuff:
ah it is the usual suspects after all (well the definition is). Thanks for links cardy lady, I have never really looked into peer to peer stuff before beyond a couple articles.
There's some interesting developments, much beyond "just internet stuff". The rise of 3D printing undermines much of what industrial production is predicated on, leading to deeper and more important struggles over "intellectual property". As well as open source simply making by-passing the capitalist production for profit possible.

Hmm, it does sound a bit like the typical idolisation of the internet etc you can get from annonymous/occupy types.
