The Empire Within - Sean Mills

I did not know if I should post this in the 'Theory' section or the 'North America' section, it can be moved if need be.

I've just finished reading The Empire Within written by Sean Mills, a professor at McGill University.

Quote:
Sean Mills is a currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of History, University of Toronto. His research interests include postcolonial thought, migration, race, gender, and the history of empire and oppositional movements. He has published numerous works on Quebec and Canadian history, including The Empire Within: Postcolonial Thought and Political Activism in Sixties Montreal. He is also co-editor of New World Coming: The Sixties and the Shaping of Global Consciousness, a major collection of essays reassessing the meaning, impact, and global reach of the period’s social movements. His work has received many awards, including the Governor General's Gold Medal at Queen's University, the John Bullen Prize, the Eugene Forsey Prize and, most recently, the Quebec Writers' Federation First Book Award

Was wondering if anyone has read this book, if it's had any impact outside the realms of academia, and if anyone is paying attention to the movement of post colonial thought. The book draws from a large amount of viewpoints, he uses Frantz Fanon, and CLR James at points, quite a bit of Latin American influence is used as the 'explanation' for the FLQ's action during the October Crisis. Mills also covers (although extremely briefly) womens movements in Quebec in the sixties.

If anyone has any thoughts or opinions, i'd be really interested to hear them.

Cheers.
