MERRY MARXMAS

Submitted by DigitalSocialist on December 24, 2016

Had a great conversation with a work mate regarding the British Left.

While the conversation started on Marxism the talk drifted towards explaining the difference between SPEW (Socialist Party of England and Wales) and SPGB (Socialist Party of Great Britain)
When I explained how SPGB do not have a leadership model and was
anti hierarchical the positive response from my workmate was that
"this was unusual but very democratic"

I then explained SPEW was heavily influenced by Trotskyism to which he asked "What is Trotskyism?'
To me the question "What is Trotskyism?" sums up the problem that within Britain there is unfamiliarity with what actually Trotskyism is.

I will be spending Christmas Day and the following Bank Holidays reading the Communist Manifesto.
Did Karl Marx or any other Socialist Writers write about Christmas?
