she's changed it again? neutral
footstep seriously, what's your beef? i agree with the others on this thread that've asked you to provide a) your definition of capitalism and b) an argument for why your drop-out-and-stop-consuming approach is detrimental to its functioning. If you won't do that you are just trolling.

ok. as i see it. the central interest of capitalism is profit. with a lack of concern for humanitarian issue resulting in exploitation. we're plugged into market relations . the bankers and speculators in the city (1 mile from where I live) get rich betting on the value of the goods and products we need to live . we wage wars to make weapons to make money. to protect our national and economic security and interests.

i liked the comment about how do i eat. on the rare occasions I have time to think about food. I work 10-12 hour days. yep I buy my food from the supermarket. what is money for - if not to spend it on something you like. at times. the demands on my time make me feel like a prisoner of the state.

i just think socio-economics are more deeply affecting than other threads of political thought. i don't see opting out as a political act. i see it as one of the possible routes to sanity.

footstep got him or her self banned for sending abusive pm's. so saith Stephen in another thread.
I still don't get it. I mean, not rushing out and buying the latest doodad because somebody on tv says you won't be complete without it, sure, thats just common sense. Trying to avoid crap made under more than usually oppressive conditions is basic working class solidarity. It sounds like our friend meant something more than either of those and couldn't manage an explanation.

Ah well. We need a very ironic shrug smiley for these occasions
