Could anyone help me with a bit of background to an text by CLR James that appears on this site?

It refers, it seems, to the riot in Moss Side, Manchester in 1981, and it also appears to be a response to an earlier article. But I couldn't find any info on the magazine it appeared in, or the original article.
I'd be really grateful for any info on this piece!

Hi Tom - I put that in the library. I normally would cite the source, but I just had the article as an old photocopied sheet, can't remember where it came from. I vaguely remember it as being from a 1980s black lefty mag, probably London based.
