i was using Dundee's interests to show the inconsistency of his position, I afterall am not suggesting people start adjusting their lifestyles in order to fit in closer to a reactionary idea of what the 'working class' finds acceptable. As I said to John drawing out problems in an internal logic does not mean I accept any of it's premises. I'd be depressed if Dundee went out and started buying up half of Cult in order to be more cool or fit in better with what other working class people do.

Okay. Then I misunderstood you. I retract those comments of mine.

Secondly you actually don't have a clue what Dundee means because you haven't seen his posts last time this issue came up, where he actually said anarchists should dress like however the community they live in dress ie he wasn't just talking about not wearing a "jesus is a cunt" t shirt when doing door to door about an issue.

The issue wasn't a matter of sometimes having the wit to tone it down abit, it's about how you dress in your everyday life.

If Dundee means everyday life then I disagree with him. I took him to mean during political activity. If a certain way of dress (or any other behavior, like showing up drunk) inhibits the success of our political activity then we should drop that behavior during our political activity.

I probably did mean 'everyday life' when I was writing in ? (2004?) ? As I said I had worked myself up at the time and took up an extremist position, which probably didn't fully do my views justice.

I don't mean everyday life now. Honestly guvna' some of my best friends are subculturals, honest! laugh out loud

Hmmm... I should look into that. In the cold weather I sometimes unconsciously wipe on my sleeve. I don't think that qualifies as "subcultural" though, just careless and gross. Its a habit I have been trying to break myself out of (you know, for the good of the class struggle and all).

Someone in the Wombles said that you knew someone was working class if they picked their nose in front of, cos working class people don't care about that, only middle class people do grin

The official English word is a "Shemagh scarf" (but nobody really calls them that) - latterly, as they are now a fashion item, due to university students against the occupation of Palestine and Iraq wearing them and that getting other young people to wear them in a kind of snowball effext they have become really trendy. It's very odd. A Palestine solidarity campaign stall I'm sometimes involved with currently does a roaring trade in people wanting to buy 'peace scarves'. It's difficult not to feel a wave of contempt, but money is money I guess.

So Leo & Devrim is the distinguishing part of a fascist mustache its handlebar nature? I've had a few handlebar mustaches in my time, I'll have to make sure I don't have one if I ever visit Turkey.

I'm not going to blame your nationality for this one but a handlebar moustache is normally characterised by an upwards curve at the ends. It may be seen as acceptable to have a moustache that goes straight out.
Moustaches that descend too low cannot be considered as pure moustaches, tainted as they are by hair that should be properly classified as part of a beard.
