Three minute hate from 1984 copied on US TV

Orwell's novel 1984 has regular "three minute hate" sessions, during which people are gathered to watch a three minute video of eastasian/eurasian enemies, followed by Emanuel Goldstein talking treason, then ending with a reasuuring image of Big Brother to upbeat music.

Here's what Americans have been watching on TV in the advertising breaks:

Quote:
VOICEOVER: “An enemy without borders. Hate without boundaries. A people perverted. A religion betrayed. A nuclear power in chaos. Madmen bent on creating it. Leaders assassinated. Democracy attacked. And Osama bin Laden still making threats. In a world where the next crisis is a moment away… America needs a leader who’s ready.”

GIULIANI: “I’m Rudy Giuliani and I approved this message.”

Fortunately, unlike in the novel, people aren't daft enough to fall for this - Giuliani's presidential campaign bombed to just 4% of the vote soon after this ad went out. You can fool some of the people, some of the time, but that's all.

That was only 30 seconds, and the music at the end was just one dull note. I feel let down. I did so want to get my hate on.
