Wilhelm Reich "What is Class Consciousness?"

Anyone know where I can buy a copy?

Read "The Sexual Revolution" and this quote has been playing on my thinking:

"The basic social question is no longer, "Are you rich or poor?" It is: “Do you favor, and do you fight for, the safeguarding of the greatest possible freedom for human life? Do you do, in a practical way, everything in your power to make the masses of working individuals so independent in their thinking, acting and living that the complete self-regulation of human life will become a matter of course in a not too distant future?"

One question I'd like an answer to is what infantile sexual repression caused Wilhelm to try and burst clouds with orgone energy. I really like Reich, but his basic questions do not address life at the level of the rutting pig, only that of their professional analysers.

The problem I have with Reich is that he seemed to see the leninist party as an instrument for liberating mankind- and conflated the idea of tha dictatorship of the proletariat wiith that of repressing the secondary instincts in favour of the self -regulating primary ones.Or , if you like, attempted to describe the psychology of the revolutionary process.I have no problem with the latter- just with his seemingsy uncritical uncritical support for leninist methods of organisation,of which Stalinism was just an aberration, caused by the masses inability to handle freedom and their need for dictatorial father -figures such as Stalin and Hitler. He did not look at the wider material/economic basis of stalinism and fascism. He did not seem to ask how it is possible for"the masses" to free themselves and throw up their own integral liberatory organisational forms. He also seemed to be saying that we all need therapy to break down our character-armour before we can make a revolution!Apert from this he was a good bloke and made me realise what the communist project was all about. The "Mass Psychology of Fascism" is the text that inspired me. I am sure you can find "The Sexual Revolution" in any good leftist bookshp.

Yeah for def. In "Listen, Little Man!", Reich shows how much he despises the working class’s tendency to use his sex-clubs as brothels. He’s an obvious homophobe too, and slightly sexist. His irrational “religious” beliefs versus what he must have known to be true scientifically accounts for his descent into lunacy if you ask me.
