Anti Capitalist Block @ the Wave Demo, London,Dec 5th
Comrades,
On 7th December, world “leaders” will meet in Copenhagen to discus climate
change. The weekend before, and during the summit, protests will happen
worldwide, in solidarity with those in Copenhagen.
But what will this achieve? For too long liberals have held sway in the
ecological movement. They push for “Sustainable, Green Capitalism”, but it
has become obvious that capitalism can NEVER be green. The Capitalist system
is inexorably tied up with environmental destruction, war, and oppression.
Therefore, it’s time to show that the only true solution is REVOLUTION. Come
to the liberal demonstration on December 5th and show the powers that be OUR
solution, the only true solution to environmental chaos!

The best thing is I bet whoever wrote this did if with a straight face.
Why all the negativity?
We all need to stop bemoaning the state of anti-capitalism and start getting involved!
Let's go there and show people that we exist, and show that an anti-capitalist analysis is integral to discussion of climate change -- which surely it is.

Pity you dont seem to have one.
exactly how do you go from
the liberal demonstration
to
REVOLUTION
with
Banners, flags, signs and a lot of noise!
?
simple maths:
liberal demonstration + Banners, flags, signs and a lot of noise! = REVOLUTION
@ the cynics: Whats the best and worse that can be expected?
The best: Literally nothing other than maybe get out a little literature
The worst: completely wasting a day, burning yourself out with pointless activity, helping to obscure the social relations behind climate change.
1)liberal demonstration
2)banners
3)signs
4)noise (lots of this)
5)??????
6)revolution!!
I don't really see whats wrong with going to these kinds of demonstrations and making this argument:
They push for “Sustainable, Green Capitalism”, but it has become obvious that capitalism can NEVER be green. The Capitalist system is inexorably tied up with environmental destruction, war, and oppression.
Nor do I see the problem with shifting literature to the activist types that come to these demos, especially given lots of the regulars on here used to be involved in similar things (myself included).
Im not so bothered about it aswell. If there politics are sound, dont see why some people are getting so sarky about it. I mean its not as if most people on here did not at one stage attend a few demos or even black bloc stuff. Its a good chance to engage with people I guess and can be a laugh. Offcourse im not denying the fact that it all is rather futile.
Well it went well, tbh. We didn't have massive numbers, but we had three banners, lots of flags and shouted ourselves horse. We definatly made a big impression both on the march and at Climate camp. At one memorable point on the march we were opposite the Bus at the front of the demo, where some idiot was giving a speech, and we pulled all the media and onlookers on to us!

Yeh, the anarchists are going to show the liberals what petitioning power is all about!
