Film night?

I've been playing around with doing an anarchist film night for a little while now. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of this and the difficulties that might arise?

What kind of costs am I looking at?

What sort of equipment do I need?

Obviously I could just take my TV to a rented social club but this would be a bit naff so are there any cheap alternatives to a projector?
