The Sparrows' Nest was established by the Anarchist Federation’s Nottingham group with the involvement of other class struggle anarchists. It is a ‘Centre for Anarchist Culture and Education’, in a house, in St. Ann’s. The Library and Archive is our major project. We set it up to inform people about the ideology and history of Anarchism in its many forms, and about working class struggles in our region. Members of the Sparrows' Nest collective were interviewed by Notts Indymedia in November 2008 and held its opening event in December.

The Sparrows' Nest was proud to host our first talk on Sunday 16th February 2009 presented by Nick Heath on the subject of lesser known anarchist lives as documented in the Libcom library and over many issues of Organise! magazine in its 'Revolutionary Portraits' series. The event was made all the more poignant by the death a day earlier of CNT militant Luis Andrés Edo. Books covering anarchist lives such as Paul Avrich's Anarchist Voices and some of the Past Tense pamphlet series are held at the Sparrows' Nest, as are all of the copies of Organise! featuring Revolutionary Portraits. Please join our mailing list for information about forthcoming events.

Regular opening times, contents of the library and archive, and links accompanying the above text can be found via http://thesparrowsnest.org.uk

If you have any material you would like to donate or be held in the library or archive, please get in touch. The project very much appreciates any donations to help maintain the library/archive & towards Sparrows' Nest running costs.
