Visiting the UK

Hi everyone,

I and a friend from SeaSol will be in the UK from September 7th to 25th. We'll mostly be in London but will also be going up north to do a couple of talks about SeaSol.

Anyway, I wanted to ask - are there any interesting events (demos etc) happening during that time? Also, if anyone would like to meet up, or would like to host a talk about SeaSol-type organizing, contact me.

I'm against us putting this on again as it was a nightmare trying to sort a projector out last time and then 888 used it to plug his brand of apolitical community syndicalism, despite us having had a fair bit of practice at standing outside places at the time. wink

888, that's actually a pretty busy period if everything we talked about in a meeting last night happens. On the 8th there should be at least one if not more pickets as part of the workfare campaign, then a talk from a FAU member on the work of FAU Berlin and the Babylon cinema dispute in the evening (still needs organising). On the 9th there's the feminist fightback 5-a-side football tournament and both London SF locals have put teams in. The following week has a discussion meeting on Paul Mason's twenty reasons why it's kicking off everywhere which I think we're opening up to interested parties and will feature an anarcho-syndicalist critique presented by Arbeiten and myself. The 15th is the Domino's day of international solidarity and we're organising a picket, and then if you still want to stand outside places, there's the Lib Dem party conference in Brighton and there are some interesting things being organised around that and a load of London people will be travelling down. I think that's everything, there could well be more that I've forgotten.

The impetus of my own comment was largely because I missed 888 last time ( being just after the riots and everything grin ).

I had actually forgotten about that big long list of stuff around that period.

N.B. Power points are bourgeois deviation you know?
