Building for an International Day of Action
Fuck off blame Deezer
anyway it's better than his other shit suggestions for names that speak to the working class:
'The Belfast Slabber'
"The Working Class Pint and a Quick Natter'
'The Fag, Shag, and Cup o' Tea'
'The Nipping out to the Shops'
'The Going to the Bookies to Spend the Kids' Pocket Money'
Could you please explain us, how the "provisional support" from the IWA looks like? There has been no reference at all concerning a Visteon International Day of Action in the IWA communication so far. So is this just wishful thinking or is there anything of substance behind it?

Initial contact has been made with the secretariat...May 9th is yet to be agreed as the comfirmed date, which is why it hasnt been circulated as such yet.
So its not 'wishful thinking'; why in the fuck would we mention provisional support from the IWA unless we had errrrrrrrrr.....provisional support from the IWA??

We're waiting on a date being confirmed. Your international secretary has said it sounds cool.
Once a date's confirmed I imagine you'll hear more.
the purpose of this thread is to simply start gettign ideas together for building toward this.

na, unless every single person has been sent a hand written letter signed with the finest quill pen by Rata, it can't possibly have happened
There is no need for the language
It is actually good practical proposal from Organise! and hope it works out well.
In fairness it was our american comrade who came up with it
We're just behind it 100%
As for the language, ah sure fuck it.
Comrades, I think the point Robot was making was perhaps internal communications between the IWA and the Section's (or within the Section's) may be a bit rough around the edges. Perhaps full internal communications have not run their course.
Simply a a tactical suggestion, perhaps this public discussion should draw to a close until all the kinks are worked out.
That said, WSA might be interested in this and folks should keep us in mind. Again, we can be reached at: wsany@hotmail.com. Or PM me and I'll get info to WSA pronto.
Unfortunately confirmation of the date for the day of action is in the hands of the Visteon/Ford workers. They are holding off with confirmation for a couple of days while negotiations are ongoing. Perhaps it may have been better to go ahead with the date and cancel if there is a satisfactory resolution to the dispute but we either believe that control of the workers struggle should be in their own hands or we don't.
And Organise! actually do believe this.

I understand the point, which is why i stressed it is provisional and that we're not sending out any materials until the details are confirmed and the workers can let us know what they feel is the best support for them.
That said, there is no harm in getting ideas together and for people to make suggestions as to how best they can offer solidarity on the proposed day, for the most part, people have realised this discussion for what it is; a discussion.
DP
Understood.
Cool, cheers to everyone for the suggestions and links so far
THE WORD IS MARCHING OUT....
is there still anything planned for the 9th of May? Nottingham AF are looking to get involved.
is there an updated leaflet being produced?
cheers
Anaychance a mod can stick a sticky about this forum in news, as i've only just found it. Or am i being blind?
We've been keeping it quiet just wanted to guage potential interest. It's all still very tentative.
There were negotiation today with no move on pensions and an unsatisfactory redendancy offer, and there are more negotiations tomorrow - we'll have to wait til then before anything can be confirmed.
It looks at this stage that if anything happens, it'll be called short notice so if people can just be prepared I guess that all that can be said.

Cheers for that, i meant the whole Visteon Forum rather than this thread, sorry if i've wasted your time.
If we will be able to produce some poster or flyer for Visteon factory workers in Slovakia or some other Ford related companies, we probably will support the int'l day too. Will have to search somehow for the companies though as there is no (directly) Ford factory here.
So, as for Priama akcia - IWA Slovakia my guess is that we would support it
What's the current situation with this?
The whole thing was provisional, dependent on the workers' votes and their calling for it.
Accepting the deal they did last weekend changes the focus of struggle and they aren't calling for an international day now.
The convenor in Belfast did indicate that because negotiations on the pensions aspect are starting next month, the struggle enters a new phase and they will likely call for support then.
