Black Star Working Group

Right, we have one month till WTY leaves, so we need to get moving on replacing him (and trying to create a system that places less of a burden on one person - and less power in any one person's hands).

red n black star First up we need to arrange times when some/all of us can go round to WTY's and get copies of the software that's been used so far, any templates, graphics etc that have been used, etc

red n black star We also need to arrange a meeting time & place for the new group to get together and start sorting out exactly what will be done and how. I'd like to suggest that it would be preferable to do this before the next WMA meeting so that we can report to the rest of the group and get anything voted on as necessary before we start working on things.

A number of things occur to me that could/should be discussed (if you think of anything I've missed - hit reply):

red n black star Editorial procedure. The way I see it we need to have some sort of formal procedure as to what gets included, so far I've heard two possibilities:

1. Every article gets voted on at a WMA meeting
2. Every article must be seen and approved by at least 3 (or other number) members

Personally, I favour no. 1. Since most of the articles are suggested at WMA meetings before being written though, I think we should also have a backup that the Black Star Group can approve an article, but only when there is not a full WMA meeting before the next publication date.

red n black star Frequency and size. Its been mentioned a few times, but switching to a 4 page folded A3 seems to me like a good idea. May I suggest that we start off by saying the next issue will be produced in 2 months time (i.e. beginning of October) and see about increasing frequency once we get into the swing of things?

red n black star Subscriptions. I've noticed that WAGs Underdog has a little box offering to post new issues to interested parties. Does anyone know how much of a response that offer got?

I think it would be good to try and build up some sort of regular readership (even if its just a handful of sympathizers). So how about we start including a little box offering email delivery of new issues? While it does mean excluding non-internet people it would be very easy to start doing that and if we find there are people interested we can then expand to include a postal option.

Thats all I can think of for now, but I'm sure there's stuff I've forgotten...?
