WMA Meeting Minutes 4/4/2004

Present: WeTheYouth, rebel_lion, GenerationTerrorist. Apologies: Kidda, J, Da_Original_Dissident, E.

- Instead of messing about with no focus as we have been doing, we thought it would be a good idea to try and build small groups in the areas that each of us currently live and generally build up a presence. To do this we thought we could use the tour idea, going to somewhere near where each of us live, doing a bit of flyposting around the place and a stall, so then any anarchists or people inclined that way in the area will hopefully get in touch and we'll have a proper network of groups, even if these groups are only of three or four people each. Then we can decide what to do when we have a reasonable amount of people to achieve something, otherwise we'll forever be coming up with grand plans that never happen. So to start this, we decided on focusing first on Leamington Spa on the 7th of May, and Birmingham University on the 21st (to be followed by one in Selly Oak soon after I would suggest, to get the non-students). Either before or after each, we thought it would be good to put up a load of general posters about anarchism with our contact number for people we miss, so people need to design posters in the next couple of weeks so we can approve a design and get a load done ready for Leamington.

- We decided that the current website design is fine, so unless other people come to the next meeting and hate it, we thought we should keep it as it is, as it is easy to read especially for people with bad eyesight.

- The deadline for submissions for the next Brum Brum is the 28th of April, send stuff to the group email account (wmanarchists@email.com)

- There is a CAPS day of action on the 24th of April, we thought we could do a roving picket and hit three stores in one day, GT to find out which would be the biggest/most convenient ones to target, and he will also make a banner for us to have and get a load of leaflets done. On the day we will meet at 10am.

- We thought it would be best to turn the anti-Brighthouse campaign into a general anti-debt campaign rather than just focusing on the one company, so we need another leaflet. It was suggested that we have a sheet on our stalls for people wanting to join a debt resistance network to sign up to, it can have a donations column, money from which must only be used for that campaign (leaflets meetings, eventually a bust fund, etc.).

- There were various vague ideas for plans to have litle group outings to protest camps, Hull, etc. but as there were only three of us we couldn't really make a decision.

- We need to find out from J how the Birmingham Indymedia meeting went.

- WTY is to find out more info on the possible visit of Le Pen.

- Next meeting to be provisionally on Sunday the 18th of April.

Okay this is what i found out from the boring UAF launch, Le Pen will be coming to the uk the end of this month, probably the 25th and will be in wolverhampton the UAF are spending all the money they have raised for a leaflet and flyer campaign nothing to actually combat the cause of fascism such as poverty, ignorance and inequalities.

They are going to stage a demo outside the conference which will help the BNP get in the paper.

I left early as it began to piss me off.
