The Gold Coast Revolution

The Gold Coast Revolution

George Padmore's analysis of the independence movement on the Gold Coast against British rule, leading to the founding of Ghana under the presidency of Kwame Nkrumah.

CLR James' Nkrumah and the Ghana Revolution offers a more critical approach to these events which examines the class antagonism in the anti-colonial movement in more depth and the limitations of Nkrumah's approach of capturing the state. However, James' volume is currently neither available online nor in print, and deals with a shorter chronology than Padmore.
