The walkout took place at Fulmore Middle School in Austin, Texas, after students felt no action was being taken by school authorities to reprimand a teacher who told a Spanish-speaking student to "go back to Mexico".

Students were then seen to walking out of class and down school corridors chanting "Say it loud. Say it Clear. Refugees are welcome here!"

The school authorities are reported to have called police on the protesting students.
