no it's me letting known my opposition to the bourgeois seperation of economic and political spheres and the general assumption that all we need is security, i want to tear apart commodity relations not just because of fear of material poverty but also for it's imposition of boredom and alienation.

Counting is organising. Regardless, I thought revol68 would come over all “it's imposition of boredom and alienation”. Oh…

Maybe you don’t need it, but I do.

but also for it's imposition of boredom and alienation.
Walk me through some every day examples of commodity relations imposing boredom and alienation that working class economic security wouldn’t solve.

Can't think of any? Me neither.
I've been sorting out one or two bankruptcies lately. Given the recent “I’m In” Oxfam adverts, does anyone here believe that real material poverty is something that only applies to people in the third-world? It wouldn’t surprise me in the least, John., revol68.

About what 15% of the population here is unable to afford the necessities of life. And I've been amongst that at times. So no I don't believe it.

Whatever. Working class people either do what they’re told by middle class people or join the “unlucky” 15%. A situation that being able to sack the boss would certainly rectify.
Then you’ve got all the people with ostensibly reasonable incomes but who are crippled by debt and enslaved by useless occupations. You might be interested in the number of people who are “home owners” but live in poverty, enjoy…

So watching channel 4 means you get to order ITV-watchers about? Great stuff!

Absolutely. I’ve seen it happen.

I was just developing your point about poverty at home. Income insecurity is the number one (actually the only) oppressive measure exercised by the bourgeoisie over the working class.

You laugh John., but I'm telling you it’s not far fetched at all. People who love a bit of Haagen Dazs and "Desperate Housewives" regularly get their house cleaned by "You've Been Framed" fans.

My mum, a C4, BBC2 (and even Arte/TV5) viewer used to clean the houses of ITV watchers - and Mars ice cream eaters - every week. I used to help her. Or eat the mints they left out anyway.
Seriously LR, if it were possible, would you rather live in a Ken Loach movie than here?

Hi
Ken Loach is the enemy, so no. I wouldn’t mind living in a Philip Jose Farmer short story though. “Riders of the Purple Wage” to be precise.
