After yet another major domestic with rkn wink , we still can't settle the arguement. I say, being British and calling the police "Feds" makes you sound like a cock who's listened to too much Dead Prez, rkn says it makes you sound cool, sexy and gansta, and it doesn't matter because police are an international class of people who are the same everywhere. By which logic you could also call them five-o or even "babylon", which most certainly makes you sound like a knob.

So, who's right?

if you listened to too much DeadPrez you'd be calling them ho-lice. Anyway calling them "peelers" is better.

I like it, as it makes me laugh.

Could cause endless confusion in the circle A movement, with all the talk of the national anarchist feds, too. wink

The cops themselves would welcome being called feds, as one of the big agenda's in policing at the moment is the push for a national police force covering certain issues, or a British FBI, as the papers call it.

As soon as its set up, they will all be fighting for the top jobs in it.

Am I being old-fashioned by saying there is nothing wrong with the traditional term of pig?

Indeed Dead Prez gave us some excellent drawings of "Pig-Men" on their first album!

And in North America. Usually fat donut eating bastards with guns, and bad moustaches, and crew cuts.

Feds is too American a term to be used in the UK IMO.

Fucking hell, a new & terrifying way to resolve domestic disputes eek . I can see it now..... after yet another major domestic dispute about whether Agamben's critique of Foucault's positing of a sharp disjuncture between sovereign & disciplinary power is warranted... So who's right?

Yes, we really do argue about stuff like that. roll eyes

You big pair of nerds.

We used to argue about whether or not it's class, until I won wink grin And now we mostly argue about whether badgers are better than birds, or whether police should be called cops or feds.

.... actually most of our arguments are provoked by my capacity to make the area in which I'm sitting look like a slum in seconds flat. So an ideal living partner for OCD-girl, then. wink

To be fair, you can never listen to too much Dead Prez.

I've never listened to dead prez and i've already heard too much.

In the unlikely event there are any working class people here they will know that the correct terminology is 'pigs', 'filth' or my personal favourite 'bleedin rozzers'.

I think you'll find it was a black and white class analysis VS. a coloured-in, dots-joined, 21st century class analysis wink tongue

RBG gets a bad rap. There's some good tracks on it. Plus on the 5 tips inside, it calls for organisation, which makes them better than 80% of self-styled "anarchists".
