Part of my never-ending quest for demographic information about libcom posters.....

And kind of topical what with the ban/partial ban on smoking in public places.

..... Gauloises rolling tobacco & green Swan papers for me, btw.

And started smoking when I was 15. Have given up a couple of times, the longest being for 2 years.

Green Rizla an Golden Virginia, if i've got any left after meeting up with Jack.

Never given up, been smoking since, i was 12/13.

First packet of fags I bought was in Germany (20 Marlboro). They sell fags from streetcorner vending machines over there, so I didn't have to cross that psychological hurdle of going into a shop to buy them.

Incidentally, they also sell condoms in streetcorner machines in Germany -- and they don't give them "romantic" names like over here. The ones I saw were called "Antibaby condom." Nice. grin

20 players Nos.6. used to rob them from the Unwins my dad used to run. Thought they were cooler, than king size fags! roll eyes

Smoked socially for a couple of years when I was a teenager then stopped because it's a fucking stupid thing to do.

option 7 is just potential grooming information for jack

I both love the fact and think it's typical that TB and Reed are the only people in the country who think the ban'd work.

Opinions on ban? Honestly not sure, just hate smelling of other people's smoke the next day.

You forget that (unlike Urban) the polls on here don't have a "publick" option.

At least someone's thinking of the children. And not in an icky Jack way, either.

I'm happy that fewer places filled with smoke. Would have liked there to be fewer exemptions though.

Neil: What makes you think it won't work, it appears to have worked in all the other countries who have recently introduced such legislation.

I'm one of the used to brigade.

Wish it wasn't so fucking harmful really. And I hated the fact I was addicted to it.

Actually, I lied. I said never, but I do occasionally smoke a pipe. Not very often, mind.

Used to smoke up to age 25 when I stopped when my twins were born. Smoked again for a couple of years in the nineties (rollies) when I was going through my 'lost weekend'.

Not arsed if people smoke but don't like breathing it in or stinking of it when I get home. It's a nasty habit.

Rollies, cut down a lot now to just a few a day. My gf hates it, which is another disincentive...

My Mrs does smoke, so it's the opposite problem, 'cause I'm not going to give up if she still smokes & vice versa.

And TBH I wouldn't fancy being around for the first while after she did quit, unless I could have one of those cop-style stab-vests or something.

My lungs are so much more shiney than everyone else's 8)

I used to smoke tho, but rkn was an oppressive patriarch and made me quit. Which was good.

Despite a serious campaign waged by the vitners association (pub owners), the smoking ban was introduced without the merest problem in Ireland. Even the vast majority of smokers support it (myself included in that - drum/blue rizla btw). It was voted the single best thing of 2004 on RTE's (national broadcaster) annual poll.

I smoke a pipe occasionally, rollies occasionally, and cigars very occasionally, and am a pedantic bastard. With a bad cough (occasionally).

I found myself smoking cigarrettes when drunk when I started uni. Now it's progressed into a social thing. Girls keep knocking on my door asking if they can smoke out my window (it's a "no smoking" hall). Whenever I have weed the fags can fuck right off though. Ditto cigars, I have 80 duty free Egyptian cigars the bassist in my band bought me but they're somewhere in my parents' house.

I used to smoke No6 and Sovereign, but stopped a long time ago.

I never got the hang of roll ups even though I bought one of those little machines and some cotton wool filters. I was even less adept with the machine than my fumbling hand roll attempts - the baccy was that tightly packed that the smoke wouldn't draw.

I smoke occaisonally. I'm not addicted, but it looks cool. Especially with my fags - they're Yves Saint Laurent 8)

went to a pub in New Cross on saturday (gay branch, Alan); opened the door, took a breathe and it felt like i'd just smoked 40 cigars. I lasted about 20 mins then had to leave. So I'll be glad when(/if, although it looks like more of a when) it's banned.

three annoying things:

1. being in a restaurant enjoying a meal and some fucker is smoking near you.

2. being in a non-smoking area in pub etc. and still getting blasted by it all.

3. putting on clean clothes, going out and then having to wash them straight after coz they wreek.

btw, never smoked ever.
