Greece: Acropolis closed due to strike
Attendants at Greek archaeological sites have decided to focus their strike on the symbolic target of the Acropolis in Athens.
The Acropolis will be closed this weekend as well as next weekend in support of workers' demands. They are currently calling for a bonus for night work, an increased bonus for working six days and week and for permanent jobs for contract workers.
France: new wildcat strike at Bordeaux airport
After a 6 hour wildcat earlier this week security staff have again walked out over pay claims.
The wildcat strike, as reported earlier on libcom, was in support of wage demands and three colleagues. When SGSA Penauille bought Astriam the 88 workers (out of a total of 100 at the airport) were transferred, in the process they lost a week's salary, which SGSA is refusing to pay.
Jean Seberg - screen icon and Black Panther supporter
Born in Iowa in 1938, Jean Seberg was an iconic actress of the 1960s and 70s whose support for radical politics led to her being hounded by the FBI as part of a wider campaign against the American New Left.
Though she had starred in respected films beforehand (for instance playing Joan of Arc in Otto Preminger's Saint Joan), it was not until her role as Patricia, aspiring journalist and American girlfriend of a Parisian thug, in Jean-Luc Godard's new wave cinema classic, Breathless, that Seberg earned her place as a cinematic icon.
France: Security staff wildcat strike at Bordeaux airport
Security workers at Bordeaux airport launched a wildcat strike yesterday morning.
The workers, employed by SGSA Penauill walked out yesterday morning at 6:30 am. All 88 SGSA employees, who make up around 90% of the workforce, joined the wildcat.
The action was in support of a current wage dispute with management. Workers agreed to return to work at 1pm some 29 flights had been delayed by this point.
