Benigno was known as Foucellas after the village in La Corunna where he was born. In 1936 before the start of the civil war he was working with a locksmith in Mesia and was member of the anarcho-syndicalist union the CNT.

Guillen, Manuel Lozano, 1904-1945

Manuel Lozano Guillen

A short biography of Spanish anarcho-syndicalist militant Manuel Lozano Guillen, who was executed by General Franco's government in 1945.

Born in Belver de Cinco into a poor peasant family in 1904, Manuel emigrated at an early age to Catalonia, working as a labourer in various jobs. As a militant in the anarchist trade union the CNT he was persecuted by the police and exiled in France during the Primo de Rivera dictatorship.

Not many people have heard of Emile Henry, which is surprising really.

He was born in 1872 in Spain, the son of an exiled Paris Communard. He returned to Paris with his family, and became a student at the Prestigious Ecole Polytechnique. However, he chose to abandon his studies in favour of "propaganda by deed".

Hoy, Senna, 1882-1914

Senna Hoy was born Johannes Holzmann in 1882 into a well-off Jewish family. He is mentioned as a member of Helen Blavatsky’s Theosophical circle in Berlin in 1903, when he would have been eighteen.

Wilhelm Jelinek, or Willi as he was known, was born in Germany on Christmas day in 1889.

He lived in Zwickau, an industrial town in Saxony, in the former East Germany, not far from Chemnitz and the Czech border.
