Five football hooligans, including former BNP councillor Luke Smith, have been jailed after going on the rampage in Manchester at a World Cup qualifying match.
The group, from Burnley were among 24 people sentenced at the culmination of Operation Lucas, which was launched to investigate trouble in Manchester city centre following the match between England and Wales in October 2004.
All of the offenders have been given football banning orders, stopping them from attending football matches for up to 10 years. Two others from East Lancashire were given community punishments. All will miss the World Cup in Germany.
Smith was jailed for 11 months for violent disorder, and a further six for an incident in Blackpool; Tempest for ten months for the Manchester violence and six for the Blackpool incident and Jonathan Kearney eight months for Manchester and four for Blackpool.
