K I'm in the process of putting together a test version of an A4 Freedom. I'll chuck up a working version on my libcom blog once I'm a bit further along with it, but before I do, I thought I'd have an ask to see if anyone would be up for potentially taking on an easy editorial role with the paper.

I've saved quite a lot of room through tweaking I think, so it should be possible to keep the same amount of news content, while introducing extras as well, but obviously given how stretched the current collective is, we can't put in more stuff without more people.

So, potentially it'd be looking at two major roles, a theory and history editor, and a reviews editor. Ideally a features editor would be good as well, but that's potentially a tougher gig so not as likely to have people take it on wink.

As a 'theory and history' person, it would be basically as simple as lifting theory and history from libcom or wherever for a specific page (yes of course we'd reference tongue) in every issue, without bothering overly about it being unique to the paper. The idea is that we start offering education alongside reporting on what's going on - though obviously as far as possible what's taken from libcom should be the simplest and most accessible stuff, as we've got much less space to explain in and little capability to link through.

The review role is actually pretty simple, Tom Jennings and Mal Function are both prolific and help keep it filled, and odd bits and pieces usually mean the big question is allocation, and occasionally trying to get hold of something specifically if the basket starts running low. There's scope there to be quite creative though (I'm not because I have to do all the other stuff on news as well!) and push things in a particular direction if you want, depending on how much effort you want to put in.

Features is actually pretty similar to reviews, but generally requires a lot more in terms of editing things down or up, rewriting to make it timely, picking up pictures, getting hold of people to write on certain topics etc.

Anyone interested? All three roles are doable via the internet, so don't require people to be in and out of London (I scan or type in hardcopy stuff which comes into the office and pass it on), and review and feature roles will be necessary whether or not this redesign/resize happens...
