The Leninist "substitution" of the party for the class is well known. I have recently been thinking that a similar thing takes place in the theories of some syndicalists, with the "revolutionary union" takes the place of the "party" in the Leninist sense. Are they're any good articles around examining this question? I guess it ties into theories of the general strike..
