Ugo Del Papa was, with Alberto Meschi, one of the founders of anarchism in the marble town of Carrara in Italy. He was born on 18th September 1875, the son of Romualdo and Lucia Pracchia. He became close to the anarchist movement from an early age. According to the police he was an enthusiastic “propagator of those criminal theories”.
Pedrini, Belgrado, 1913-1979
A short biography of anarchist Belgrado Pedrini who took part in antifascist resistance and as a result served 30 years in prison in post-Mussolini Italy.
Born at Carrara on 5th May 1913, Belgrado’s mother died when he was nine. His father was a sculptor and had the opportunity to travel to many cities, and he named his son after the Yugoslav city which was still fresh in his memory.
Bibbi, Gino, 1899-1999
A short biography of Italian anarchist militant Gino Bibbi, who used his engineering skills to develop weaponry to fight the fascists in the Spanish Civil War.
Gino Bibbi, born in February 1899, came from a family of ‘good standing’ from the village of Avenza near Carrara, with a father who owned a large joiners’ works.

Fiaschi, Goliardo, 1930-2000
A biography of Italian anarchist and anti-fascist partisan and book seller Goliardo Fiaschi.
Goliardo Fiaschi was born in Carrara (Italy) on 21 August 1930 and died in the same city on 29 July 2000. On 9 September 1943, aged thirteen, he joined the Resistance in his district, but in order to gain admittance he claimed to be over fifteen years old.
Lucetti, Gino, 1900-1943
A short biography of the Italian anarchist, Gino Lucetti, who tried to assassinate the world’s first fascist dictator, Benito Mussolini, in 1926.
Born in 1900 in the anarchist stronghold of Carrara, Gino Lucetti had a highly individualistic outlook compared to many of his more anarchist-communist comrades. He was an outstanding figure of local – and indeed nationwide – anti-fascism.
