The Horror, the Horror of World Imperialism

In the late 19th century, the Congo was ripped open for its large rubber resources to satisfy capitalism’s new found demand for tires, leading to the death of millions of Africans. The horrors of the Congo are well known. Pictures of mutilation and death appear frequently in the lectures of academics who demand the need to create a more humanitarian capitalism. Joseph Conrad’s ‘Heart of Darkness’ appears on many school syllabuses. But despite literary suggestions of a problem found within the human heart, the truth is the problem was to be found in a new epoch of history that continues to this day: the epoch of imperialist capitalism.

China: Long Held US Fears Becoming Reality?

The dilemma for the US – and the threat for the world – is that over time China will catch up with the US militarily as well as economically. It’s a long way off. However at some point the US will arrive at the same dilemma which faced the German General Staff in 1914. Their calculation was that by 1916 they would lose what military advantages they had over their imperialist rivals so were facing a pivotal decision and thus gave the green light for support to Austria and Armageddon followed. The current USA-China rivalry will be the axis around which any conflict will take place.

In Defense of Anarchism, In Defense of Anti-Autoritarianism by Ron Tabor, July 28, 1996

A wide-ranging debate within the Love and Rage Revolutionary Anarchist Federation was sparked by Ron Tabor's July 1996 response to another member Chris Day's polemic "The Historical Failure of Anarchism" (https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/chris-day-the-historical-failure-of-anarchism). Tabor, who had been a leader in the Revolutionary Socialist League, also wrote a critique of Lenin and the Bolsheviks "A Look at Leninism". Love and Rage did not survive the fissure and Day's faction soon left the anarchist movement.
