Latin american workers in Unite: from heroes to pariahs
In September 2009, Unite evicted the Latin American Workers Association from the office space which they had been providing. LAWAS had not only been backing migrant workers agains the bosses: they had also been backing them against the union. From The Commune (20.11.09)
In September 2009 Unite the union ordered the Latin American Workers Association (LAWAS) without notice to vacate the office which it had provided the Association with in its southeast region HQ in Manor House, thus ending a five year partnership.

Hundreds protest racist attacks in Belfast
Hundreds of people from all over Belfast gathered last night against recent racist attacks in south Belfast. Many spent the night keeping watch outside a house of the victimised Romanian families.
Between 200-300 people were estimated to have been in attendance at the protest, called at very short notice on the Lisburn Road in south Belfast. The crowd were protesting against the recent upsurge in racist attacks in the south Befast area, which have concentrated in the last week on three houses where Romanian families live.

Dozens of Phillipino workers face deportation after problems with their employers at Okna Rabien near Lodz.
At the end of February / beginning of March, 98 workers from the Phillipines were employed at Okna Rabien window and door factory in Rabien, near Lodz. The hiring of these workers were part of management's plan to take on 200 cheap workers to replace 249 of them recently at the end of last year from the company.
